Care Summary
A hardy, peaceful bottom-dweller and one of the most popular community fish in the hobby. Schools along the substrate sifting for food and occasionally darts to the surface to gulp air — this is normal behaviour, not distress. Requires a soft substrate and tank mates of similar temperament. Excellent beginner fish but commonly kept in groups too small for their wellbeing.
Tankmates
A peaceful schooling species that must be kept in groups of at least 6 — solitary corydoras become stressed and stop foraging. Compatible with most peaceful community fish. Avoid sharp or coarse substrate as it damages their delicate barbels; smooth sand or rounded gravel is ideal.
Compatible with
- Betta
- Neon Tetra
- Harlequin Rasbora

- Cherry Shrimp
Avoid keeping with
- Angelfish Adult
- Large Cichlids
